João Luís Alves Apostolo, born in Portugal, in 1964. Postdoc in Nursing Sciences (2013), PhD in Nursing Sciences (2008), Master in Addictions and Psychosocial Pathologies (2000), Graduation in Nursing (1988) with a specialization in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing (1997), Post-Graduation in Health Services Administration (2000). From 1989 to 2000 worked as general and specialized nurse at Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra, Centro Hospitalar de Coimbra and Hospital Psiquiátrico Sobral Cid, Portugal. Since 2001 is Professor at the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC), Portugal (Coordinator Professor since 2013), in the areas of research methodologies, evidence based health care and psychogeriatrics. Researcher at the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA:E), coordinating research projects (patients' comfort, depression, cognitive impairment, cognitive stimulation in elderly, Elderly Frailty and synthesis of science - 2 of these are founded). Member of the Scientific Committee of the UICISA:E. Member of the General Board and of the Scientific Board of the ESEnfC (Vice President of the Scientific Board 2009-2014). Deputy Director of The Portugal Centre for Evidence Based Practice: a Collaborating Centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Member of the Cognitive Decline Group - EIP AHA. Integrates the group coordinator of the consortium Ageing@Coimbra. Member of the board direction of the Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Xi Chapter. Peer reviewed articles for 9 international Scientific Journals. Member of the Editorial Board and of the Scientific Committee of the Journal Referência. Published 142 articles in journals and 75 papers in conference proceedings, has 8 book chapters and published 4 books. Has 155 items of technical productivity.
